Description:
A new 230,000 square foot structure on a 3.63-acre site in downtown Los Angeles, The Walt Disney Concert Hall will be the new home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. We are extremely pleased to be involved with such a challenging and high profile project. No doubt that this Frank O. Gehry designed structure will be an internationally recognized building for the city of Los Angeles.
Even though the unique curved form of the theatre is challenging to work with, Dowco’s use of Tekla Structures is making the project enjoyable to detail. Herrick has expressed their appreciation for Dowco’s use of enlarged cookie cutter sections and 3D views to show complex truss joints, which are easily made possible with Tekla Structures.
Other benefits which have been appreciated by the General Contractor, Engineer, and Architect is the ability for all concerned to use Dowco’s Tekla Structures model for the coordination of the other trades such as electrical or duct work. Our model has also been useful to resolve structural conflicts with the wire frame using the 3D capabilities and true member framing capabilities of Tekla Structures.
We are anticipating a successful completion for the theatre roof and we look forward to working with The Herrick Corporation again.
