Tekla User Group Meetings
British Columbia User Meeting 2008

Arvin Eugenio

ImageThe 2008 Tekla Structures B.C. User Meeting was held at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites in Langley, with 80 plus participants from the lower mainland - more than double the attendance of last year’s User Meeting in our Burnaby office.

Ewen Dobbie presented our Tekla Structures Online Course, and emphasized the importance of training and the value that this new service offering provides to our existing and future customers. We have received numerous requests to be included in our beta testing, so stay tuned for more updates on this.

Tero Laine, formerly of Tekla Oyj in Finland, tried to sum up in an hour all the new features and functionalities of Tekla’s 2008 version release – 14.0. After breaking for lunch and networking, Tero gave a presentation on FLEXnet licensing, where customers’ questions and concerns about this new activation system were aired and answered.

Please make note of the upcoming 2008 Tekla North American User Meeting, which will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For more information on this meeting, please visit www.tekla.us/um08.

We appreciated the attendance of our existing customers and were also pleased to welcome some of our new Users. We would like to express our appreciation to Steven Mitchell of M & D Drafting, who flew in from Edmonton Alberta to attend the meeting

Quebec User Meeting 2008

by Christine Boutet

The 2008 Tekla User Meeting in Quebec was a huge success. More than 18 companies were represented by 38 participants from various engineering, detailing and fabricating offices

Tero Laine, Technical Operations Manager, made two main presentations, ‘What’s new in Version 14.0’ and ‘FLEXnet Licensing’. Many customers were eager to try out the new licensing system as well as the features highlighted by Tero on 14.0 and we have received numerous requests for temporary entitlements prior to this version’s launch.

This meeting highlighted Dowco Technology Services’ presence in this province and we were delighted to see the many faces of our Quebec users. We are thankful to all of our customers who took the time to visit us at our new premises in Laval, especially to those who drove as much as 5 hours to be with us at the meeting.

We are looking to continue to expand our services in this region and are currently seeking to employ a Tekla Structures Trainer and Support Staff for this office.

Ontario User Meeting 2008

by Ted Yuen

The Ontario Tekla Users Meeting was held in our Mississauga office on March 27th 2008, in our newly renovated extension facility adjacent to the existing office. Dowco Technology Services’ BC staff attended - Arvin Eugenio, Sanjay Prasad and the newest addition to our team, Tero Laine.

We were fortunate to have a mix of existing and new users join us for the day and counted 60 attendees for the whole event.

Image Arvin presented our upcoming Tekla Structures Online course, which will be readily available near the end of Q2. Current development for this service offering is on the Basic Training but there was mention of development for more advanced users.

Tero proceeded with his feature presentation on Version 14.0, which left a positive feel for many users, some of whom had already requested temporary entitlements for beta testing at this time. After a short break, Tero introduced *FLEXnet licensing and many questions voiced by our users were addressed by the team.

Special thanks go to A1 Detailing’s Roger McGuigan and Chris Gaston for flying out from New Brunswick to attend. It was truly a pleasure to see you all.
