Meet Our Staff

Yaghoub Khalichi

I was born in Tehran, Iran.  After high school graduation, I followed the footsteps of my older brother and attended Engineering College of Tehran University.  I graduated in 1964 and was immediately drafted for military service and served in the army for 18 months (a total waste of time.)  After completion of military service, I worked in the Engineering Department of the Army for one year and saved my money to head to the United States for graduate studies.

In June 1969, I earned my Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics from the University of California, Berkeley campus.  I worked as an engineer in training for Conrad Associates (formerly T.Y.Lin Associates) for 1½ years, before returning to Iran.

I worked there in different venues, including consulting firms and construction companies, until 1989 when we immigrated to Canada.   We landed in Vancouver with no idea of the place, except that there were two mountains world famous for skiing - that part I enjoyed a lot.  It took me 7 months to find a job with N.C. Engineering.  Since then I have worked for different companies including Bagdanov & Pao Consultants, Flat Iron & KWH, a construction company and Pacific North West Detailing.

In 2004 we decided to move to Toronto, where our son had been living since graduation.  It was a difficult move, but we did it.   I worked for Baseline Drafting Services for two years and eventually made the right decision to quit that job and join Dowco/TSD.  One thing that I do appreciate about this office is that every body shares his or her knowledge with others and that means a lot to me.

This summer my wife and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary.
