DowcoMAX India

Ken Mussato and I traveled to Kolkata, India, this past October to interview and select potential staff for the expanding DowcoMAX operation.    As with previous recruiting trips, we both returned satisfied with the quality of the new staff selected.

Also in town to celebrate Dowco Max’s annual celebration were DowcoMax CEO, Jyoti Chatterjee, and DowcoMAX Co-Chair,  Dr. K.P.Chaudhuri.    We were fortunate that our trip coincided with the Indian festival period celebrating the Great Durga Purja, which is the most important festival of Bangalis.  Being there at this happy time made for a wonderful visit for both Ken and I.   Wherever we went we were treated to Bangali Sweets.

Special thanks to Dr. K.P. Chaudhuri and Jyoti Chatterjee for arranging my personal visit with Mr. Bhattacharyya, the Mayor of Kolkatta at his home on the ‘Diwali’ holiday (similar to our Christmas).  I was honored to have been invited along with Jyoti, to spend time with the Mayor and his wife at their lovely home during this holiday celebration.  I certainly enjoyed a relaxing morning of conversation, tea and Sandesh and Rasogolla Bangali Sweets (which I have now come to love).

Diwali in India is celebrated with jubilation and enthusiasm.  It is one of the biggest Hindu festivals and is celebrated for five continuous days. Third day, the main day of Diwali, is celebrated as the 'Festival of Lights'. These lights symbolize the victory of good over evil, and lamps are lit around the city as a sign of celebration and hope for mankind. Celebrations focus on lights and lamps.  During this time people also exchange Diwali gifts with their dear ones, and burst fire crackers in the night to express their happiness.

In addition to celebrating with the DowcoMAX staff, we were also able to express our thanks for their hard work and contributions throughout the year.   As our DowcoMAX CEO stated to the staff, we hope that it has been a mutually rewarding experience.  With forty-five (45) staff, the DowcoMAX foundation is in place, and we are now positioned for our next phase of growth.

Dowco’s Quality Man, Ken Mussato made the most of his trip by spending much of his time interacting with the staff and determining how we can make their everyday experience at DowcoMAX as productive and rewarding as possible.

It remains our goal to bring the best working environment, benefits and personal advancement opportunities for all DowcoMAX staff.

Thank you all once again for making Ken and I feel so welcome.

Ewen Dobbie
Executive Vice President
