I was born in 1961 in Maple Ridge, B.C., the youngest of five boys. After high school I began working in the construction industry, framing houses for about 8 years. In 1987 I worked for H&R Ready Mix (Steel Division) fabricating rebar. Lafarge Canada bought H&R in1989, and at that time I was transferred to Lafarge’s fabricating yard in Abbotsford. I seriously injured my lower back on the job in1997. After being on WCB for a long period of time, my doctors informed me I could not return to that type of work, and WCB agreed retraining was needed.

I was accepted into the Structural Drafting Program at BCIT and graduated in June 2001. I began working at Dowco‘s Whonnock Office August 2001. I can’t give enough thanks to the staff for their support and expertise in steel detailing & Xsteel. It’s a learning experience every day.

I was still on WCB when I met Donna in 1998. We were introduced through mutual friends. (I guess you can say it was a set up.) Although we have no children together, Donna has a daughter who lives on the Island and we are eagerly awaiting grandchildren.

Our family consists of Major, a 12 year old Dalmation, Sarah a 3 year old house cat, and the newest addition to our family, Sally, a 7 month old Jack Russell cross. Donna rescued Sally and it was to my surprise when she arrived home with her. Sally is a bundle of energy who has me out walking on a daily basis. We like to get out in our boat as often as possible during the summer months and occasionally during the fall and spring to go fishing.

Both our families live nearby so we get together as often as possible.
