The big move took place on Friday, November 26th and both Dowco and TSD teams are now merged and working together in Dowco’s Mississauga office in the same environment. We extend a sincere welcome to Eric Lee and his team, and look forward to many years of cooperation.

The following is a bio and short history of Eric Lee and Total Structural Detailing Inc.

Eric Lee was born in Shanghai, China and grew up in Hong Kong. After immigrating to Canada in 1968, Eric and his wife settled in the Toronto area in 1971. Still living in Mississauga, Eric recently became a new grandfather.

Eric’s career in the structural detailing industry began at Anthes Steel in 1971, then Dominion Bridge in 1972 and from 1973 to 1987, Eric worked at Frankel Steel as a detailer.

In 1987, Eric began his own venture and thus, Total Structural Detailing Inc. was born. For the past 17 years, as founder and president, Eric has developed a well-respected organization, with clients and partners all over North America.

Total Structural Detailing Inc. was formed in 1987. With only one other detailer and a tiny office, Eric Lee began building his business and reputation. In 1989, TSD Inc. moved to its long term home in Mississauga, Ontario and grew to 15 detailers. Over the next few years, TSD Inc. was affected by the economic downturn and restructured in 1992. However, ironically it was in that same year that a long term relationship was formed with Owen Steel Company of Columbia, South Carolina. TSD Inc. was also a member of AISC, CISC and NISD.

It was the strong partnership with Owen Steel that led to the eventual adoption of the Xsteel detailing software and transition to extensive automation of the business. At its height, TSD Inc. employed over 50 people and had locations in Mississauga, Vancouver and Seattle.
