Operations Corner
Dowco continues to expand to accommodate the increasing workload. This summer we opened a third office in the Vancouver area, located in the Langley/Surrey area. Our India office continues to grow, with plans to hire 20 more staff before Christmas. Canadian drawing offices also recently recuited 18 new staff, bringing our total team to around 180. Not too bad for a company that started in Hugh and Susan's kitchen! Welcome aboard to our new drawing office team members, Bernardo, Calvin, Carlo, Corrine, Daniel, George, Gil, Glenn, Iain, Indira, James, Mei, Paul, Rose, Teron, Trevor, Thomas, and Yaghoub. On a more personal note it was nice to take some time this summer to vacation in my old home, Australia. It was wonderful to show our two young children the sights; Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, and the glorious Queensland beaches. They were fascinated by the local wildlife, such as koalas, kangaroos, crocodiles, snakes. We also spent some time catching up with family and friends that we had not seen for over 6 years. We are heading into the last quarter of 2006 with a very healthy workload, with several projects scheduled to run into 2007. Dowco staff are delighted to be working with a number of highly-respected clients, including Bechtel Corporation, Schuff Steel Company, Canron Western Constructors Ltd, Hirschfeld Steel Co. Inc, Owen Steel Company, Helmark Steel Inc, Zimmerman Metals Inc and DCM Erectors.
