Meet Our Staff

Christy Chien
Dowco Whonnock
I was born in Taipei and raised in a small friendly town in the middle of Taiwan. I have a younger sister and baby brother, 14 years younger than I. My mother was a nurse, and my father runs his own real estate business. As a child, I often hung around construction sites, observing workers hammering bricks and mixing concrete. At 14, I moved to Canada alone and began my adventure here in this wonderful country.
Following in my father’s footsteps, I wanted to get into the building design and construction industry. I enjoyed drawing, and thanks to the Canadian high school system, spent most of my high school years doing something I loved, painting. I was obsessed with fine arts in my teens. After graduating from Killarney High School in Vancouver, I moved to Montreal and entered the civil engineering program at McGill University. Montreal is a beautiful, fun city in summer, but I could not bear its chilly winters. So I moved back to Vancouver as soon as I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in 2002.
I have worked at Dowco for almost four years, and enjoy every moment of it. I am grateful to be surrounded by friends who care, and who are willing to help and share their knowledge. This job gives me not only a sense of satisfaction and pleasure at the end of day, but also a feeling of family.
