Operations Corner
Our new office in Kolkata, India has started operations. The local team consists of two senior staff from our head office, 26 very qualified and enthusiastic local project managers, checkers and detailers, and our HR manager. We are all extremely excited and positive about the current activities of the operation, as well as its potential. Thanks to Ken, Patrick, Sanjay, Shobha and our partners, iTeMax, for their tireless work over the recent months. Your efforts are greatly appreciated! August saw the award of the structural steel package for the Vancouver Convention Center Expansion project. At more than 18,000 MT, this is the largest structural steel contract in the Vancouver area for some time. Canron Western Constructors Ltd was the successful fabricator, with Dowco awarded the shop detailing. It will take a detailing team of approximately 30 a full year to complete the project. Congratulations to Hugh and Susan on Dowco's 35th anniversary. To celebrate the occasion in both Vancouver and Toronto, staff, past and present, and business colleagues were invited to a cruise of local waterways during August. The Vancouver cruise coincided with the British Colombia Day celebrations and fireworks display in Coal Harbor.
