Dowco's 35th Anniversary Cruise - Vancouver 1970-2005
Dowco's 35th Anniversary was on June 8th of this year. In celebration, Hugh and Susan Dobbie hosted a dinner cruise on a yacht for their staff, family, associates and friends on July 30th. The weather was absolutely fantastic that evening, a hot summer's night. The yacht itself was beautiful, with a modern sleek design and measured 110 feet long.
The evening started with appetizers, eg jumbo-sized prawns served on an ice sculpture, crab cakes and beef tarts. Dinner was Baron of beef, skewers of pork, chicken, pasta and a number of salads. It was very difficult to leave hungry. After a leisurely cruise from the Plaza of Nations around Stanley Park and along the shores of Vancouver's Inner Harbour, we stopped in English Bay to witness a spectacular pyrotechnics display by Sweden in the Celebration of Lights fireworks competition. Fabulous. And what would fireworks from Sweden be without the music of ABBA playing in the background. It's absolutely amazing how many shells the barge holds for the fireworks display...a must-see for those who have not seen the Celebration of Lights.
Everyone who attended agrees that it was a spectacular evening.
On behalf of all those who attended the "Dowco's 35 Years of Service and Dedication" celebration, I would like to thank Hugh and Susan for a fabulous evening. I would also like to congratulate Hugh, Susan and their family for 35 years of Dowco excellence. We wish you many more years of success.

PS: May I suggest, though an odd year, 36 years seems like a great event to have another boat cruise!
