VarietyThis year the 41st Annual Variety Show of Hearts Telethon raised a record amount of money.  Variety – The Children’s Charity is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to raising funds to inspire hope, enrich lives, and build a better future for BC’s children. Since 1965, Variety – The Children’s Charity has raised more than $130 million in support of British Columbia children with special needs. Variety is the leading children’s charity in the province when it comes to issuing grants to individuals and families. Last year alone Variety issued over 1000 individual grants to families in need

Throughout the year Dowco supports Variety by providing services varying from Internet access, website hosting, e-commerce, creative and maintenance on their website.  At this year’s telethon Ron Cuthbert, Manager of Dowco Computer Systems, and Hugh Dobbie Sr. escorted by two Mounties in red serge presented a cheque for $8,200.00 to Barbara Hislop, Executive Director of Variety, The Children’s Charity.

On the second day of the telethon Rory Tochet of Dowco Consultants Ltd. and Mike Leeson of Dowco Computer Systems Ltd. attended the telethon.  Prior to manning the telephones during the Telethon, Mike recorded a greeting to the province and Variety on behalf of all the staff at Dowco.  This message was played on-air during the telethon.  Many thanks, guys, for giving up part of your Sunday for such a worthy cause.
