Meet Our Staff

Charlie Jenks
Proudly born and raised in the beautiful countryside of Caledon, Ontario, I have not strayed far from the home of my youth, only slightly north on Hwy 10 about 5 minutes drive from my parents. I studied Civil Engineering Technology at Sheridan College in Brampton, ON and must have left an impression at the college (both with staff and in the pubs I’m sure) as I was hired directly upon graduation to run their civil engineering department labs. Great job, got to play with soil, cement and expensive survey equipment.
When I was tired of playing in the mud so to speak, I gained employment with Eric Lee’s Structural Detail Co. in 1995 and within a short period of time, TSD went from manual drafting, to AutoCad to Xsteel. TSD allowed me to gain a great deal of experience and gave me abundant learning opportunities to grow and adapt to our always changing business. I learned a lot from TSD and the old crew I worked with.
Thinking the grass was greener elsewhere, I left in 2003 to broaden my horizons and to further develop project management skills and work in a different industry other than steel. Starting as a design coordinator at OpenAire Inc. in Mississauga, ON, I worked closely with clients, fabrication and installation teams designing innovative aluminum retractable enclosures and curtain wall systems. As the company grew, so did I (my wife claims my waistline has as well). As senior project manager at OpenAire, I completed several water park enclosures, residential enclosures and operable skylights and even had the opportunity to design/manage a retractable roof over the penthouse club at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas. When OpenAire announced the move of corporate headquarters taking me further from home, I decided a change was in order.
Late last year I joined the ranks of Dowco employees in Toronto and I was happy to be able to work with some of my old teammates as well as many new ones. I am looking forward to many great years at Dowco.
I truly believe in giving back to the community I live in and to do so, I serve on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity Dufferin-Caledon as Land Acquisition Chair.
My wife Carrie and I have two great kids, Calvin (10) and Avery (5). We love the great outdoors and spend our time camping and doing whatever makes us laugh together as a family.
