Meet Montreal Office Manager
Gerard Courrier

Gerard Courrier50 years old!  This year is a year of changes -  now in the select club of the 50’s,  I have joined the Dowco group.

This is further continuation of a path started in 1974 after my secondary five.  Not knowing what I wanted to do, my father asked me to join him in detailing while I made up my mind. After a couple of months I knew I had found the career to suit me.  I worked on a wooden stool for twelve years in the family basement learning the trade and learning to manage the company since my father was allergic to paper work.  Having two employees in France, I had to iron the sepias coming back from there by mail since they were folded tight to make smaller packages.

In those days we had time -  it took one week to send drawings and one week to come back, so it took two weeks just for drawings to go back and forth, plus the detailing time. In 1985 I acquired a partner and bought out my father in 1986 and moved to my first office out of the family house.

In 1990 during the recession, we bought our first computer and headed south to pick up contracts in the US.   This was our way out of the recession and we have grown ever since.  In 1997 we split the partnership and each went our separate ways but kept a good relationship. We became partners again in a new form of association called The Quebec Detailing Connection, a group of five local companies formerly representing approximately 100 detailers.

We now have moved our 20 licences and detailers to become part of the two hundred strong Dowco organization.   Now as Dowco Quebec, we are ready to face the future with family traditions still intact and the respect of employees I have always valued.   I am glad to be part of the Dowco team and will endeavour to help it grow.
