Meet Our Staff

Stu Walker
Dowco Toronto
My family arrived in Toronto in 1954 after a very stormy crossing of the Atlantic Ocean. As we arrived, Hurricane Hazel had just left and the damage was enormous. We settled in the West End of Toronto in an area called Mimico. I have many fond memories of life in Mimico. including swimming at Mimico Beach. Life was so much better than in England. I attended John English Public School and after graduation, I attended New Toronto Secondary School, where I studied various technical trades, including my least favorite, drafting.
After leaving high school, I worked for a variety of steel companies. My first was Bomac Steel then I moved on to Norak Steel, Canron Construction, Frankel Steel and Ferro Steel. After Ferro Steel closed down I began work with Total Structural Detailing. I had been a manual drafting detailer my entire life, till being briefly introduced to Teckla Structures, 3D modeling at TSD. After the merger of Dowco and TSD, I become more involved in checking using this software.
I have three adult children, Kim, Todd and Jessica and a 10 year old grandson Matthew. I enjoy doing crossword puzzles and watching TV. In summer I like to work in the garden and feed the birds, and sometimes play with my neighbor’s cats and dogs.
