I was born in Calcutta (Kolkata) in 1956 and grew up with my elder brother, sister and parents.  My father was an Indian railway officer, but he died of a heart attack in 1995. My mother, a housewife, is still alive.

After completing high school in 1973, I applied for a 2 year diploma in drafting at the Industrial Training Institute before joining Samsons India in 1975.  In 1981 I joined M.N. Dastur & Co. Ltd., a large Indian steel consulting engineering firm.  At the time I applied for a diploma in mechanical engineering through evening classes.  In 1982 I went to Libya to work on the Misurata Steel project for Dastur Eng. International.  When I returned from Libya, I completed my engineering course.

In 1994 I left Dastur for Contech Eng.LLC, Dubai, as a Sr. Draftsman/checker, after which I worked on several multinational emirates building systems:  Kirby Bldg. system, Eta Ascon and Ahmed Mansoor a-ali, Bahrain.  While in the Gulf, I worked as checker, group leader and drafting manager, co-ordinating shop work, consultant and clients.  I also worked on other projects, including pre engineered building, hot rolled industrial building, structures, shopping plaza, airport, multi-storeyed projects etc. as well as sheeting and flashing.

I began using Xsteel in Bahrain completing two projects for ALBA, where Bechtel was the main contractor.

Now I am happy to be a member of the DowcoMax group and I hope our team can help make our company into the largest steel detailer in the world.   Regards to all Dowco staff in Canada.
