dowco.com News - Internet Access in Canada
Here are a couple of highlights of the ISP industry as published by Stats Canada on December 2005. While the report deals with data from 2004, trends continue today.
More Canadians continue to use the Internet for everyday tasks including personal correspondence, making holiday travel arrangements, conducting research, e-shopping, and scheduling appointments.
In 2004, about 6 out of every 10 Canadian households were connected to the Internet, up from just 4 of every 10 in 2000.
The two most common access services were broadband or "high speed access" and narrowband, commonly referred to as "dial-up access". Revenues generated from broadband access were more than double the revenues from narrowband access.
