2009 Dowco Employee of the Year - Walter Skwarchuk

As the end of another year approaches, it's fitting we take the opportunity to thank all of our staff for their efforts throughout the past year.  We’d also like to recognize one individual in particular, who we feel has stood out and has gone 'above and beyond.'

A few years ago, we created an award for the Dowco Employee of the Year.  This award is presented to the individual who we feel has provided outstanding service to the company and also demonstrated a true commitment to their profession.  As in previous years, it is difficult narrowing it down to only a few final selections this year.

Walter Skwarchuk, our Estimating Manager, has had the daunting task of estimating considerably more projects than we bid in 2008.  In good times, this would mean we are poised for growth.  In challenging times, it means we need to determine not just the hours it will take to do the job, but also the value the job will sell it for in today's open ultra-competitive market.  Walter has worked closely with Dowco Consultants sales and marketing team, and also with senior managers to suggest and determine the company’s current 'market rate' as well as shaping the company's short and long term business strategies.

We thank Walter for his unwavering commitment and contributions to the company.
