People who procrastinate tend to be less healthy, less wealthy and less happy.
Ewen Dobbie, Dowco Technology Services
President & Chief Operating Officer

There was study in 1978 that said only 5% of the public thought of themselves as chronic procrastinators.  Now, it's 26% and growing.  The increase probably being the result of the typical modern day distracters that can kill time and squash potential: tvs in every room, online videos, web surfing, cell phones, iPhones, iPods, video games, Blackberries, to name a few of the big ones.  At work, it's constant email. Facebook and games just a click away.

In simple terms, procrastination is avoiding doing things that need doing.  For the sales rep, it's not making those difficult follow-up calls, or not "asking for the order".  For the Project Manager, it's not asking the hard questions of his/her team as to "when a task they are working on is going be finished", and possibly "why is it late".  For the business owner, it's identifying industry and technology trends, but yet not being able to make the decision to take required action to participate in the changing building and construction business paradigm.

To be fair, we all do this at times, but it can reach a point where it becomes a big problem in our lives and in our business. The more one procrastinates, the bigger a task becomes, and the harder it is to take action.  How many times could we have rectified a problem situation that we were aware of, if we had taken the appropriate action sooner?

Where would your company be if you were using 3D modeling and BIM compliant tools three or even five years ago?  Would you be leading, or following?  These are the types of hard questions you need to ask yourself.  Another is; will 2D tools and technology be enough to survive and/or thrive in the future?   Is it too late to jump on 3D Modeling, BIM and collaborative workflow bandwagon?  What challenges lie ahead if I do decide to take action?

The facts are simple. Previous pioneers have slashed through the jungle of technological uncertainty and now this cleared path has become a four lane paved highway.  Procrastinate any longer, you could be left behind.  Take comfort in knowing you are not alone.  As a company that has been through the jungle, we can help steer you along the correct path, and onto the highway of technological possibilities and opportunities.
