Since Tekla’s new Drafter licence configuration launch in April, more than 30 Tekla Structures Drafter licences have been sold in Canada! The rationale behind Tekla’s launch of this configuration is based on a number of surveys conducted in drawing offices. Survey results indicate that companies are spending 35 to 40% of project time editing drawings. The introduction of the Drafter addresses the need for a configuration that does not tie-up current modeling/detailing licenses.

To clarify, the Drafter is a separate license and works as a stand-alone licence just like any of the other Tekla licence configurations i.e Viewer, Steel Detailing etc. Also note that purchasing Drafter licenses does not remove any inherent drawing functionality of any previously owned Tekla Structures software.

This new configuration with drawing modification and saving functionality will meet the drawing editing needs of users allowing:

• Drawing clean-up (single part, assembly, multi, cast unit, GA)

• Add, delete and edit dimensions, texts, associative notes, part and bolt marks, symbols as well as graphical drawing objects

• Create automatic basic views for parts or assemblies (front, back, top, bottom, 3D)

• Create all manual, detail, section and single part drawing views and save these changes

• Change drawing UDA's (assigning drawings for checking and mark the edited drawings)

• Save all changes done to drawings

• Note- Users of this configuration will be unable to CREATE any new drawings (single part, assembly, multi drawing, GA, cast unit).

This configuration is only available in Version 13.0 and the price $6,500.00 Cdn per license. The annual maintenance cost of each Drafter license is $1,300.00 Cdn.

For flexibility, there are several *upgrade paths available to the license owner. A Drafter license is fully upgradeable to a Steel Detailing Limited, Steel Detailing (Full Version), Precast Concrete Detailing or Full Detailing (Precast, Reinforced & Steel Detailing Licenses combined). Viewer Licenses can also be upgraded** to the Drafter subject to certain conditions.
