When I became President of Dowco Consultants Ltd. in May of this year, I felt a sense of obligation to lead the Company with the same ideals that had been implanted into the organization by its founders, Hugh and Susan Dobbie. Although Dowco Consultants has always been a provider of steel detailing services, it is defined by a desire to deliver more than just everyday service.

The 1980’s saw the introduction of Computer Aided Drafting technology to Dowco. The 90’s saw a leap from the then comfortable and safe world of 2D CAD to the new sophisticated and unknown world of 3D modeling and detailing. Since then the company has quadrupled in size, and operations span the globe. Service offerings have expanded to include 3D Modeling services for owners, general contractors and engineers, 3D Steel Detailing, Pre-Detailing Services, and soon 3D Model Management Services. Sister company Dowco Technology Services, the Canadian Resellers of Tekla Structures, works closely with steel detailers, fabricators, engineers, architects and general contractors challenging them to think beyond their current needs, looking for ways to improve their cost effectiveness through the use of Tekla Structures and re-defining their processes.

As you might imagine, our people are an integral part of our Company's culture and share in our vision and our ideals. We believe in leveraging the abilities of our employees and investing in them, so that they can be the best that they can be. As we continue to grow our operations, training and improving the skills of our staff will remain a priority.

There are two ways to face the future. One is with apprehension; the other is with anticipation. These are exciting times for Dowco and we look forward to facing our future with much anticipation.
