Technical Support, Training, IT
L. D. Johnson, Services Manager

When FabTrol Systems Inc. became part of the Dowco family in September of 2008, Ewen Dobbie gathered together the FabTrol staff and discussed his vision of FabTrol as an international company; growing well beyond our US and Canada base, sprinkled with a few dozen customers in South America, UK, Australia and New Zealand. He immediately flew off to India and the Middle East to put in motion those plans.

As you read this, FabTrol and BIM Engineering Solutions are wrapping up our first FabTrol MRP implementation in Dubai, while training the regional reseller, BIMES, based in Egypt and Dubai to expand our presence in that market.

In the Middle East, Rex Morgan of FabTrol and Mohamed Ali from BIMES have become the key players in building the reseller's service presence there and positioning them to move forward with more customers. The BIMES team of Mohamed Ali and Sabri Ismail have worked closely with Tahir Sharif and Al Saudi Andera (Tekla Middle East), along with sales consultant Amy McCann and Sales Manager Robert Forester to add Al Reyami to the FabTrol customer base and bring additional joint customers into the pipeline. The FabTrol Services team, led by Rex Morgan and Services Manager Lonny Johnson, continue to build the necessary intercompany relationships and transfer of knowledge, documentation and skills to bring the Al Reyami implementation to fruition, while giving BIMES the background to move towards independent support of additional Middle Eastern clients.

The Tekla Middle East/BIMES group is able to use their local market presence to introduce and package FabTrol as a steel fabrication management enhancement to their Tekla modeling customers. Throughout the world Tekla and FabTrol share common fabrication customers who use FabTrol to manage their materials and processes and Tekla to do in house detailing. BIMES has shown that this market synergy can be tapped and we look forward to applying this strategy in other regions. One additional spin off of this approach is that FabTrol is now offering a configuration and training package based on our Drawing Management suite to detailers in North America, providing them another tool to enhance service to their fabrication customers.

In addition to the Al Reyami implementation and reseller service training, Rex Morgan has also participated in a sales seminar hosted by Tekla/BIMES in Dubai and will complete his July-August trip with a series of individual customer visits accompanying the Tekla/BIMES team on a trip into Saudi Arabia; extending FabTrol's reputation for outstanding and flexible customer service and software to one more region of the world.
