head teroTekla Global Business Forum, Helsinki, Finland

Ewen Dobbie, Arvin Eugenio and Tero Laine from Dowco Technology Services Ltd. were invited to participate in Tekla’s Global Business Forum. The forum was held in Finland between 24th and 27th of June and attendance was large. All Tekla offices and partners were invited to hear the latest news about Tekla Structures worldwide.

Dowco – Tekla Partner of the Year

The most pleasing moment for Dowco Technology Services was, without doubt, receiving the Tekla Partner of the Year Award. This award was received because of several things: good customer satisfaction, still strong license sales and a very high maintenance ratio. We sincerely thank all our customers and our staff for this - and hope we will be able to bring the award back to Canada again next year!

Tekla Sales still strong

Even though there have been some negative signals in the marketplace, it does not appear to have had a major impact on Tekla sales. Tekla Structures sales figure are still growing this year, although reaching double-digit growth becomes more challenging every year. Tekla is growing stronger as a company all the time, which means investments on Tekla products are a safe bet. Good financial results will ensure continuous investments on product development, quality, services and deliveries.

New segments emerging

Although the Steel fabrication side is still the biggest contributor in Tekla sales, it was a delight for us all to see new segments such as Engineering and Precast fabrication growing strong. More and more different companies are using Tekla Structures, which means more business opportunities for all Tekla users, since being able to deliver a Tekla model is a must in many projects. One particularly interesting piece of news was Tekla’s launch of Construction Management configuration. This configuration is meant primarily for general contractors, who can very easily plan and schedule the erection of any buildings modeled with Tekla. New tools such as the ability to create tasks from structural objects, put those tasks into project calendar and create dependencies, means ability to prevent costly problems on site. Creating the tasks and visualizing the schedules is easy to do, thanks to the development done by Tekla. The new, much faster visualizing of model information means benefits for all Tekla Structures users. Construction management configuration will be available in selected markets later this year.
