Project Report: Burnaby Office
Rick Station

Rick StationThe part of The Cerro Verdi Project for Schuff Steel being done in the Burnaby office is now complete. I would like to thank Steven Chang, Tony Han and Joe McDonald and their crews for all the hard work and effort put forth….a job well done.

Allan Gliege's team is in the final few details of the 3,100 Ton Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nevada for Fought and Company. Allan has worked closely with Tony Poppe of Fought, Scott Amick of Sellen and Heath Mitchell of PCSA to bring this Project to a successful conclusion.

The Vancouver Convention Center is finally off and running. With the Value Engineering complete for the Eastern Part of the Convention Center, we are now busy connecting and detailing. The Western part of the Convention Center is still being Value Engineered and is scheduled for release May 1, 2006. Wojtek Jablkowski and his crew are in close coordination and consultation with Canron West Constructors (Fabricator, Erector), Glotman-Simpson (Structural Engineer), PCL (General Contractor) and the Musson Cattell Mackay Partnership (Architect). Since our model is now the official document, we are continually updating and revising to the latest information available.

The 5200 Ton Citi Bank Project Phase 1 in Long Island, NY for Owens Steel, being detailed by Doug McGillvray and his team, is moving along well now. This fast track job took considerable coordination and effort to get underway, especially the lower floors where the more complex moment and double Column connections gave our Programmers some interesting challenges. It required some extra efforts from all parties to keep this project on schedule.

John Chai's crew has completed the Dallas Trade Mart Expansion for North Texas Steel. Thanks again Bill Gigl… it is always a pleasure working with you.

The Comcast Center Project that Don Adair's team has been trying to complete for Cives Northern Division is still ongoing. It has been an uphill battle struggling daily to deal with revisions upon revisions with no end in sight.

In late December we were awarded the 4600 Ton Sprint Center in Kansas City for Schuff Steel Midwest (formally Havens Steel). We are happy to be working again with Paul Devereaux of Mortenson. John Chai and Allan Gliege are heading up this Project which is currently well underway and progressing nicely.

In March after we had completed the initial modeling portion of the 40,000 ton Goldman Sachs Head Quarters in New York City, DCM Erectors awarded Dowco approximately 67% of the detailing. This fast track Project designed by Halcrow Yolles has been split between three detailing companies, with Dowco taking the lead and doing the majority of the work. Ken Mussato and Tony Han will be heading Dowco's part and coordinating between the Engineer and the other detailing companies.
