President's Report
Hugh Dobbie Sr
You will see from the various reports in this newsletter that business is booming.
We have acquired a new building in Surrey for our Langley/Surrey office. There is room to accommodate thirty-eight (38) staff on the upper floor and on the lower floor we are building a recreation area, gym, lounge and training centre. If this concept is successful, we may expand this concept to our other offices. In the meantime, the Dowco Social Club is welcome to use of the facility.
We are aiming to have the Langley/Surrey office up and running by June 1, 2006. At this time, the building is a shell so we have free hand on how we develop the space. The office layout will be posted in the Burnaby and Maple Ridge offices when it becomes available. We expect a number of staff from Burnaby and Maple Ridge to take advantage of the easier commute. We have approximately thirty (30) parking spaces. The office is situated next to a Ramada Inn, which will be convenient for visitors. Several restaurants and cafes are also in the area. We are fortunate to have located this facility.
We hope that all of you are taking advantage of our training initiatives. We look forward to receiving your feedback on how we might improve our programs.
We are currently looking for Project Leaders with Tekla Structures experience; also Modelers, Connectors and Checkers for all our offices. We are also looking for a receptionist/administrative assistant for the new Langley/Surrey office. Because the president, vice president and accountant all reside in Langley, the new office will become the financial centre for the group of companies. I will continue to work one day a week in Burnaby, with periodic visits to Maple Ridge and Mississauga. I am of course always available by phone and my number will not change.
Many challenges lie ahead but with excellent leaders and a strong supportive staff, we are moving confidently into the future.
