Project Report - Surrey/Langley
Doug McGillivray, Project Manager (Surrey/Langley)
Tulsa Event Center
The Surrey office still has minor detailing activity on the Tulsa Event Center located in Tulsa Oklahoma. Schuff Steel has completed the main erection and is now working on fieldwork. We continue to help when called upon.
Since our last office report the Surrey office took 1st place in the 2007 Telka Model Competition for the Tulsa Regional Convention and Events Center. This award was decided by votes from all users who attended the Tekla North American User Group meeting, held in Baltimore in August this year. Winners automatically progress to the international model competition.
Working alongside the City of Tulsa, Tulsa Vision Builders, Schuff Steel and National Steel Erectors, the project team in Surrey took on the demanding task of detailing one of the most complex arenas in North America. Designed by architect Cesar Pelli for Matrix & Odell Associates, the $183-million Tulsa Event Center and 18,000 seat arena is scheduled to open in the spring of 2008. Congratulations to all those involved in this successful project.
1500 Owens Project
The detailing for the 1500 Owens project for Strocal, Inc. has been completed and sent for approval. Additional EWO work is still required. Once we are given approval to proceed with our EWO’s, we will be able to complete this project. Marlin Darling has been the Project Manager for this project and our staff has enjoyed working with Marlin.
Genentech Building 50
In September David Berrens of Strocal, Inc awarded Dowco the 1933 ton Genentech Building 50 project in San Francisco, Ca. This project is managed by Eric Manarin in Strocal’s Eloy, Arizona fabrication plant. Fabrication will be shared with both the Eloy and Stockton shops.
This project has been a challenge for having RFI’s answered but with Eric’s help we have been able to keep the project moving.
Regency Towers
Early November 2007, David Berrens of Strocal, Inc. awarded Dowco with another project the Regency Tower project in Riverside, CA. This is an 11 storey building with approximately 2500 tons of steel.
This project is managed by Joshua Meister from the Strocal’s, Stockton office. We look forward to working with Joshua.
