NASCC – A new focus on BIM
Ewen Dobbie, President

Each year Dowco takes part in the American Institute of Steel Construction’s (AISC’s) annual North American Steel Construction Conference. This year Nashville, Tennessee played host to the many steel professionals across the country (and also from around the world) April 2nd to 5th. It was very clear from the numerous technical sessions and comments from customers who stopped by our booth that the industry buzzword today is ‘BIM’ Building Information Modeling. Being early adaptors to 3D modeling technology with Tekla has meant we have waited 13 years for this industry epiphany.

ImageEven more pleasing is the AISC’s focus on ensuring uniform 3D modeling and information exchange protocol for the steel industry. Once again the AISC is leading the way. We applaud their efforts. Let’s just hope the architectural community also see’s the benefits to BIM and working collaboratively.

Once again, our ‘Meeting Place’ Booth design served it’s purpose and many of our customers were able to stop by, rest their weary feet and spend some quality time with us. Our thanks to all those customers who did stop by, and also to the Dowco staffs (Wayne Morrison, Gerard Courrier, Hugh Dobbie, Tero Laine, Ron Cuthbert -- Dowco Online Training Booth) who manned the booth for the duration of the convention.
