Project Report: Burnaby Office
Rick Station
The Vancouver Convention Centre is in full swing. The Eastern Part of the Convention Centre is about 70% complete, connected and detailed. The Western part of the Convention Centre has been Value Engineered and was released to Dowco on 1st of July, 2006. Wojtek Jablkowski and his crew are doing an excellent job coordinating, updating and revising the model to the latest information.
Doug McGillvray and his team have now completed the 5200 Ton Citi Bank Project Phase 1 in Long Island, NY for Owens Steel. Thanks to all the people involved for their extra effort in keeping this fast track job on schedule.
The Comcast Center Project handled by Don Adair’s team has been completed for Cives Northern Division. Their uphill battle dealing and struggling daily with revisions upon revisions has finally come to an end.
The 4600 Ton Sprint Center in Kansas City for Schuff Steel Midwest is about 80% detailed. John Chai’s crew is working very closely with Earl Horton from Schuff and should hopefully have this Project completed in the next couple of months.
The 40,000 ton Goldman Sachs Headquarters in New York City for DCM Erectors has started, and has undergone 2 major revisions, putting a monkey wrench into the Project. This has created some tough sledding in keeping our crew busy until the connection design is sorted out. Ken Mussato and Tony Han are in constant contact with DCM in getting connection designs released for modeling.
Dowco has been awarded from Bechtel Power Corporation the 10,000 Ton Sandow Power Plant. Steven Chang is our point person and is spending the majority of his time at Bechtel’s office helping coordinate and set up this Project.
The Panama Museum of Biodiversity which was started back in 2003 and put on HOLD in 2004 has now been re-activated. This is another Frank Gehry Project, which always have such unique geometry and connection design. I know this will bring out the best of everyone’s talents.
Dowco is well into our peak summer vacation schedule with a majority of our staff taking family holidays in July and August. Hope everyone has a safe holiday and enjoys the summer weather.
