Iain Brannen: Surrey/Langley Office New Manager

Iain Brannen recently joined Dowco in the spring of 2006 and brings with him 38 years of experience in the structural steel industry.

Originally from Scotland, Iain began his detailing career with Butler Buildings UK Ltd. in Kirkcaldy, Fife (Scotland) in 1968. After a five-year apprenticeship in light structural steel framing, he moved into heavy structures working with Marathon Oil, who fabricated North Sea oil rigs and platforms (some still in use today).

In 1976, Iain immigrated to Canada and spent three years in Toronto contract detailing for local fabricators. After a particularly cold winter, he moved to Vancouver in l979, and got his first BC job (over the telephone) with Paramount Detailing.

From 1982 to 2003, Iain was involved with NC Engineering Co., one of the larger structural detailing companies in the Vancouver area. At this time, he moved into management then into senior management.

Iain is married to Cathy, a proofreader at the Trader Corporation and a freelance editor. They have two children, Neil (20) and Lauren (16).

Iain is now Office Manager of our new Langley/Surrey office.
