Dowco and ISO
Ken Mussato, VP Quality Management
Participation in the ISO 9000 system has provided Dowco with the means of measuring and maintaining our quality process while conducting normal, everyday business. It has also provided us opportunities for continual improvement of processes based on objective measurement of our procedures. As a result, Dowco has established the objectives and processes necessary to deliver results in accordance with our customer's requirements.
Our quality management system is continually improving and evolving to suit the new challenges we face every day. Dowco has changed tremendously since we first became certified in ISO in 1998. At that time we were detailing in 2D (Mountain Top), faxing RFIs and sending drawings via parcel post from our single office in Burnaby. New procedures have been created, driven by Dowco's need to provide a quality product for our customers. Today we have four (4) offices in Canada currently certified in ISO. The ISO management system has helped bind all of Dowco's offices together with a common operating system resulting in improved customer satisfaction.
In early October, we will have two (2) new internal auditors join our ISO team. Kirsty Newlands will become our auditor in the new the Langley office and John Wong will take over the internal audits in the Burnaby office. Together with Bori Pohoriljak, they will conduct 54 audits of 5 basic procedures of our quality system. Each will audit and monitor processes and procedures according to our policies, objectives and requirements, thus providing valuable information required for continual improvement of our quality management system.
